How datacenter proxies actually work

Datacenter proxies run on hardware we rent in commercial data centres. They are not attached to a consumer ISP, so a determined target can identify them as non-residential by looking up the ASN that owns the range.

In exchange you get an order of magnitude more throughput per dollar and latency measured in tens of milliseconds rather than hundreds. For any destination that is not actively filtering hosting ranges — internal APIs, partner feeds, most public data sources, staging environments — that trade is overwhelmingly worth making.

We run both shared and dedicated pools. Shared IPs are drawn from a rotating block used by multiple customers and are billed by bandwidth. Dedicated IPs are assigned solely to your account, billed per IP per month, and never touched by anyone else.

Datacenter proxy questions

Both are hosted on our servers. The difference is who owns the IP range: datacenter addresses are registered to hosting ASNs, ISP addresses are leased from consumer internet providers. ISP proxies therefore look residential to an ASN lookup while keeping datacenter speed — and cost roughly three times as much.
Yes, that is what makes them cheap. If a neighbouring customer's behaviour would affect you, move to dedicated. We also isolate high-risk verticals onto separate blocks so a bad actor in one segment cannot poison another.
Exits are probed every 90 seconds against reference destinations and checked nightly against 40 public blocklists. Anything flagged is quarantined, remediated with the upstream, and only returned to rotation once it is clean.
Yes — that is the dedicated tier. You get exclusive use of specific addresses that never change, which is what you want when the destination allowlists by IP.
